Positives from today’s game.
- best attacking threat in years - dominated the ball for the first time in years - plenty of shots, plenty of crosses - good tempo to our play - Joelinton looked a real player
Negatives
- we have no good defenders - midfield was surrendered when we lost the ball - some of the passing was Sunday League - not sure how we can accommodate Shelvey and Willock in the same midfield without sacrificing some attack

Still don't know enough about the squad with not watching for three years, plus I couldn't watch it all (most of the 1st half, only about 10 mins of the 2nd). We did look shocking at the back like, but it was good to see the players having a go at least. Since I started watching again after the takeover I've seen us playing in our own half for about 90% of the time.
Dubravka must be guaranteed to come back in now. I'd have Dummett in for Lascelles pronto as well. Obviously there's Fernandez as well but I've not seen him play much myself.

It's easy to see why Rafa and then Bruce basically thought to just play "negative" football to try and win games, because with that squad they can't defend if they play anything remotely expansive. Difference of course was Rafa had a solid plan and clear tactics, Bruce had nothing. But given that playing that way last year didn't get results, I'm fine with the more expansive style despite the nightmare at the back. It was good to see a clear identity and strong attacking play, although the lack of quality was clear. With better players at both ends, we could have pissed that. Hope Howe sticks with this philosophy with a view to tidying up at the back.
Joelinton miss was shocking and it really should have been 4-3. He did play well other than that, but it shows the lack of quality. He has always been awful at finishing and it always comes at the worst times.
Thought Ritchie was alright at the back, we all know he's not a fullback and can't really defend, but when he attacks like that, I prefer him to Lewis, at least until Howe can work with Lewis and get him back on track. Didn't think much of Murphy, he's hopeless defensively. Schar being back in the team was a positive, but he didn't play that well. Clark hoofing it at the end was frustrating. But Lascelles was definitely the worst one at the back, despite having the advantage of playing in his actual position and having had a long run in the team. His positioning, marking, decision making were all awful. Good goal but counts for nowt, we'd have won that game without his goal if he had defended better.
ASM was alright but wasteful at times, Shelvey played well but we've seen this enough times to know he doesn't sustain performances and has his liabilities that better teams will expose. Disappointed with Longstaff when he came on, he was all over the place. Darlow needs replacing with Dubravka.
I think that's basically my thoughts. Dubravka is an obvious and simple change, otherwise I think that's the team for Arsenal as well. Like everyone else, waiting to see what happens with Fernandez, doesn't make sense to me he still doesn't make the squad. Can't see Lascelles getting dropped unless Howe was that unimpressed and wants to drop a bombshell on the team by switching captain, so it's a case of hoping they can improve as a unit.
